Back-to-Back WAC Tournament Champions

The NMSU Aggies are going dancing for the second-straight year and 20th time in the NCAA tournament in Aggie basketball history. The number 3-seed NMSU Aggies won the WAC tournament by beating number 4-seed UT Arlington on Saturday night.
The last time the Aggies made a back-to-back NCAA tournament appearance was during the 1992-1994 seasons. Technically, those two seasons were vacated by the NCAA due to academic infractions, so you'd have to go all the way back to the 1970 season when NMSU beat St. Bonaventure since they've won an NCAA game.

Aggie head coach Marvin Menzies is now an impressive 13-3 (.812) in WAC tournament play. His teams always seem to come into the WAC tournament as a top-contender, and leave as champions.
With their win on Saturday night, the Aggies get the automatic bid into the NCAA tournament. The NCAA selection committee seeded NMSU as the 13-seed in the Midwest region which will be held in San Jose, CA. The Aggies (23-10) will play the Saint Louis Billikens (26-8) on Thursday at 12:10pm on TNT.
